Pajamas

Sleep sets in cotton poplin, flannel or satin, often with piped edges and a camp collar. Creators print them with their own patterns and make them in small runs. Design a set of your own if you want a print nobody else has.

Made for sleep

Pajamas are a matching top and bottom made to be slept in, which is what separates them from loungewear: nothing has to survive a trip outside, so the cut can be loose everywhere, the waist is a soft elastic or drawcord, and seams are kept flat where you lie on them.

The classic set has a notch or camp collar with piped edges and a buttoned front; simpler sets pair a knit tee with shorts or long bottoms.

Choosing the fabric

Cotton poplin is cool and crisp for warm nights. Flannel is brushed cotton that traps warmth for winter. Satin is smooth and drapes, and a jersey knit stretches like a t-shirt. Because the whole set is in one fabric, the choice decides which months it gets worn.

A print nobody else has

A pajama set is a large, plain canvas, which makes it one of the easiest places to put an all-over print of your own. Design the set on a base garment and it is made to order, in a run as small as you need.
