Between pajamas and outerwear

Loungewear is what you wear at home that still works for a coffee run: sweat sets, joggers, roomy knit tops and soft shorts. Unlike pajamas it has to look deliberate in daylight, so it keeps real hems, pockets and a proper waistband; unlike activewear it is not built around sweat or stretch.

The fabrics that make it

Brushed fleece is the warmest and the most familiar. French terry keeps its loops unbrushed, so it is lighter and better for spring. Waffle and rib knits add texture without weight, and smooth jerseys drape like a heavier t-shirt. Most loungewear here is sold as separates that also work as a matching set.

Designing a set

A matching sweatshirt and sweatpants in one colour is the simplest set to design and the one people wear most. Add an embroidered mark or a small print and it is made to order on the same base garments the creators use.
