Natural rubber comes from latex, a milky sap tapped from the rubber tree. It's elastic, waterproof and renewable, and it has shaped what we wear, from soles to waterproof coats, for nearly two centuries.

The tears of the tree

Rubber trees are native to the Amazon, where Indigenous peoples used latex long before Europeans arrived. In 1839 Charles Goodyear discovered vulcanisation, heating rubber with sulphur to make it stable and durable. That breakthrough made practical rubber boots, soles and raincoats possible.

How it's harvested

Tappers cut a thin groove in the bark, and latex slowly drips into a cup without harming the tree. The latex is collected, coagulated and processed into sheets or foam, then shaped into soles, trims and coatings.

How it feels

Elastic, grippy and waterproof, with a natural, flexible hand.

Where it works

Soles, footwear, waterproof coatings, trims and accessories.

Caring for it

Wipe clean with a damp cloth and keep away from direct sun and heat.
